Little Horseshoe Lake offers a truly unique Cotswold experience. This sustainable, adults-only retreat is a haven immersed in nature, where modern eco-design meets traditional craftsmanship.
Comprising five architect-designed luxury holiday homes on a 55-acre private eco-estate in Gloucestershire, this destination is both contemporary and cool. Each home features an open-plan layout that invites light and air, with stylish and minimalist furnishings. Floor-to-ceiling windows create a seamless connection to the outdoors. At the same time, private decks allow guests to revel in the beauty of the natural surroundings, from the chorus of birdsong at dawn to breathtaking stargazing at night.
Inside the four one-bedroom lodges, you’ll find well-equipped kitchens, comfortable living and dining areas, and upstairs, a bedroom with an en-suite shower room offering transcendent views of the water, trees, and sky. The two-bedroom Pond Lodge follows the same organic design principles, sharp decor, and thoughtful touches.
The estate comprises two pristine lakes and a nature reserve, providing valuable wetlands teeming with wildlife. From bats, wildfowl, and mammals to fish, dragonflies, butterflies, and other invertebrates, there is an abundance of species to observe. While the serene surroundings make it tempting to fish or meander through the zigzag paths in the floral woods, there is plenty to explore.
The Cotswolds, with its narrow lanes, picturesque stone villages, medieval pubs, and grand stately homes, is England and Wales’s largest designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The closest village, South Cerney, has a history dating back to the 10th century and offers three welcoming pubs. Just six miles away, the Roman town of Cirencester boasts a magnificent church and the Corinium Museum, known as one of the country’s finest small museums. Day trips to Blenheim Palace, Sudeley Castle, Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, Oxford, and Bath are easily accessible.
For those interested in land and water-based activities, the Recreational Lake at the Cotswold Water Park is a five-minute walk away, offering opportunities for trail running, cycling, rowing, fishing, water-skiing, sailing, and canoeing. Nearby shopping destinations include Bicester Village and the charming market towns of Tetbury and Stow-on-the-Wold. If relaxation and pampering are a priority, the Bamford Spa at Daylesford is a 40-minute drive away, and the DeVere Hotel Spa is right on the doorstep.
